Hi,

This is my excellent used motorcycle which I have for sale - its a used 2005 BMW F650 GS.

By the way - I'm Mark, and I'm an Aussie.

San Francisco Motorcycle Story

In 2010 I bought this BMW motorcycle to ride up from San Francisco to Alaska for a 6 week holiday (photos here). 

You see, my partner and I love riding motorcycles around the world but we've found its a lot easier (and cheaper) to buy a local motorcycle, ride it, and then sell it later. 

Well actually, we bought 2 motorcycles in San Francisco but have since sold one.

Why buy a cheap local motorcycle?

Not only do we save time not having to prepare and transport a motorbike from Australia but we also save money in shipping.

As we get to San Francisco a bit we thought we'd keep the motorcycle there to use when we were visiting.

But as its turned out with Qantas (my partner's employer) cutting their flights to San Francisco we're not getting there enough anymore.  So now my beloved BMW F650 GS is now for sale.

Why a BMW?

Good question.  There are certainly cheaper bikes out there, so why did we buy a BMW F650GS?

Easy & Comfortable

The seat is very comfortable for long days in the saddle.  The heated hand grips makes it much nicer on colder days. The upright seating position is kind to backs, knees and legs - especially over long days.  And more importantly for adventure riding the upright riding position takes a lot of stress off your wrists.

Goes anywhere

Yes, dual sport bikes are great both on road and off road.  This gave us confidence that we could get to see all we wanted to without having to miss something because it was down a dirt road. On the highway its also got lots of overtaking power so you're not compromised.

Bulletproof

There's a reason so many of these bikes have been sold by BMW over the years - they just keep on going.  They can be serviced easily and have robust engineering.  They don't consume much fuel and don't wear tires much.
